FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

If you don't see the answer to your question here, feel free to contact us at events@unitedway.org.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

The short answer: whatever inspires you to change the world! This isn’t a formal event, so leave the top hat and tails at home. Business casual is how most people define their chosen wardrobe. Spring will be springing in Fort Lauderdale; daytime temps will be around 80°F and 63°F at night. The chicest outfits to include a LIVE UNITED shirt will be recognized!

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

Your passion. Your purpose. And your planner! For any arts and crafts, we’ll provide the supplies. Our conference app will provide more details on specific sessions and activities, as well as relevant background info.

WHAT NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES WILL I HAVE AT THIS EVENT?

It’s not just networking - it's new working! Beyond casual conversations during breaks and receptions, our schedule includes opportunities to engage in collaborative activities, guided problem-solving and more with people around the world building stronger communities. Through the app and on-site, we’ll encourage dialogue designed to foster meaningful relationships around the many issues we’re facing in our fight for the health, education and financial stability of every person in every community.

WHEN SHOULD I ARRIVE IN FORT LAUDERDALE?

When booking your travel, plan to arrive on Monday, March 23 so you're well-rested when our opening session begins bright and early on Tuesday, March 24. The program will wrap up by noon on Thursday, March 26.  If you are attending the Women United Summit, plan to arrive on Wednesday, March 25 for a Thursday morning start. We will also have a reception Wednesday evening for those that arrive early. The close of this event will be by noon on Friday.

WILL CORONAVIRUS HAVE AN IMPACT ON THIS EVENT?

At this time, United Way Worldwide is following guidance from the Center for Disease Control (CDC); we will continue to monitor their coronavirus page closely. Should the recommendations change and we adjust our plans, registered attendees will be contacted immediately.

The TSA and CDC provide regularly updated information on health and safety considerations for traveling within the United States and abroad. For more information, view the current travel advisories and the CDC website

Your health and safety are of utmost concern to us and we encourage you to make the right decision for you and your family. We are extending the early registration deadline date to Friday, March 13; through that date, attendees will only incur the cancellation fee noted in our cancellation policy. For information on cancelling your hotel or airline reservation, please contact the provider directly.

CAN I PAY WITH FLEXIBLE CREDITS?

Yes, you can! United Way staff and volunteers can pay for the event directly with flexible credits, and after the event can submit your travel, hotel and food expenses for reimbursement (within reasonable limits). Please note that only staff from United Ways eligible to receive flexible credits may use them at this event. United Ways outside the U.S. and Canada are not eligible for flex credit use.

Check your United Way flexible credit balance anytime. If you choose to use your flex credits to pay for this event, when you get to the payment screen while registering, choose “Flexible Credits."

More details on UWW's flexible credit policy for both this event and other opportunities can be found on United Way Online. If you have any additional questions about flexible credits, please contact Ask United Way.

HOW DO I CLAIM TRAVEL REIMBURSEMENT FROM MY UNITED WAY'S FLEXIBLE CREDITS?

If you would like to be reimbursed for your travel expenses from your flexible credit account, you can submit your expenses and they will be processed after the event. Each registrant will receive a digital travel reimbursement form about a week after the event ends. Once this form is sent, it must be completed within 15 business days, after which further reimbursements cannot be processed. You do not need to submit your receipts with this form, though we do encourage you to keep them for your records.

WHAT'S THE PER DIEM FOR THIS EVENT?

The per diem allowed when requesting reimbursement from flexible credits covers hotel and food expenses. For this event, the total per diem allowed for each attendee is $1650.
