INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY

Inclement Weather Policy for the Mary Gates Learning Center - The following policies are to be followed when inclement weather presents hazardous commuting conditions:

Office Closed for the Day
If the federal government announces closure for the entire day because of inclement weather conditions, United Way Worldwide (UWW) is closed as well. Unless an employee has been designated as “essential” for these time periods, UWW staff is not expected to report to work. When UWW is closed, the Mary Gates Learning Center will not be staffed and there will be no support for security, audiovisual, facilities, reception desk, etc. If there is an event scheduled that needs to continue during a closure (for example, people traveled from out of town to attend the meeting), the Hosting department is responsible for staffing the event (security, audiovisual, reception, etc.).
Building security requires that the front desk be staffed at all times while the front or rear doors are unlocked. A Host team may opt to unlock the front doors ONLY if the Host team identifies and communicates the person that will staff the front desk for the entire duration that the front doors will be unlocked. The Host team must also ensure that the doors are locked before you depart the building.

Late Arrival
United Way Worldwide follows the federal government's late arrival announcements. The above applies in this instance as well.

Early Closing
United Way Worldwide reserves the right to make its own determination as to early closings. The above applies in this instance as well.
