DESCRIPTION

We are excited to announce that the Impact Exchange and the Fundraising for Impact Summit will be held in collaboration in Phoenix, Arizona February 6-9, 2017! The Impact exchange will be held February 6-7, with the Fundraising for Impact Summit held February 7-9.

Connecting impact and revenue in a virtuous cycle gives your United Way the best opportunity to extend the reach of both efforts, ensuring maximum benefit to the communities you serve. Attendees will receive fundraising best practices – focused on accelerating revenue growth for our impact work, through donor-centered and corporate-centered fundraising practices. United Ways will share best practices, and outside speakers will share insights and key fundraising research – all while emphasizing United Way’s Network-Wide Strategy.

This collaborative networking opportunity will place an emphasis on the importance of cross-functional collaboration amongst resource development and community impact staff, for sustainable and scalable community practices.

SUMMIT OBJECTIVES

  • Reinforce your United Way’s positioning as a community impact organization, with fundraising as a core component for the implementation of the United Way business model.
  • Deepen understanding and best practices about product/initiative development, and the role of multiple disciplines within each United Way, to create and offer donors the opportunities to invest in specific community work.
  • Share innovative work and plans to position United Way for growth in the rapidly-changing marketplace.
  • Foster networking to generate new ideas to support each other and our work throughout the network.
  • Share best practices among United Way fundraisers in specific disciplines: major and planned giving, campaign and resource development management.
  • Promote trust to facilitate network partnerships and engagement.
  • Share information and insights into donor needs and interests, and how to strengthen United Way as a donor-centric organization.

GENERAL SESSION SPEAKERS


Lisa Bowman serves as United Way Worldwide’s Chief Marketing Officer. She leads the organization’s marketing team and initiatives to create, develop and implement United Way’s global marketing strategies that highlight the organization’s image and heritage to galvanize engagement of donors, advocates, volunteers as well as partner relationships in communities around the world. Bowman oversees brand, marketing and strategic communications including brand innovation, creative development, media relations, affinity groups and strategic alliances such as the famed NFL and United Way partnership. Bowman joined United Way Worldwide from UPS where as part of her $80 million social investment portfolio in The UPS Foundation, Bowman oversaw the transportation company’s United Way campaign, which touched over 300,000 employees.


Dr. Stefan M. Bradley is author of the award-winning “Harlem vs. Columbia University: Black Student Power in the Late 1960s” and co-editor of “Alpha Phi Alpha: A Legacy of Greatness, The Demands of Transcendence.” Since 2008, Dr. Bradley has served as associate professor of history at Saint Louis University, where he received the Faculty Excellence Award and the Ernest A. Calloway Jr. Excellence in Teaching Award. He also holds an affiliated faculty appointment in African American Studies at Saint Louis University and serves a mentor in the African American Male Scholars Initiative. Jon Fine has been with United Way of King County as its President and Chief Executive Officer since 2000. Under Mr. Fine’s leadership, United Way of King County is one of the largest United Ways in the country and is also one of the leading human services organizations in the Puget Sound region. Prior to United Way, Mr. Fine served a successful tenure as the CEO of the Seattle/King County Chapter of the American Red Cross. Before joining the Red Cross, Mr. Fine worked for Weyerhaeuser and then in the banking industry with Puget Sound Bank from 1981 to 1993. He served as Senior Vice President and Treasurer of Puget Sound Bancorp, and as Managing Director of Puget Sound Securities. Click here to read full bio.


Brian Gallagher, became President and Chief Executive Officer of United Way of America in 2002 and then of United Way Worldwide in 2009. In 2002, he immediately took on the challenge of leading the transformation of the organization to focus on community impact. A career veteran of the United Way system, Gallagher believes that the true measure of success for United Way and other philanthropic organizations is bottom-line results: the lives that are changed and the communities that are shaped. This represents a dynamic shift from the United Way recognized for decades as the nation’s premier fund raiser and distributor. Gallagher has raised the bar on the accountability, governance and transparency standards adopted as a requirement of membership for all United Ways. Tiffany Jana, Founder of TMI Consulting Inc., has helped orchestrate the firm’s tremendous growth over the past 13 years. Jana has positioned TMI Consulting as the global leader in social enterprise, values-based engagement. As TMI’s leader, Jana oversees the development of the firm’s strategy, client relationships, and people. Jana also serves as a strategic advisor on client engagements, and has deep expertise in diversity and inclusion, marketing, leadership, and stakeholder engagement. Jana's vision is to help clients optimize their workplace and community environments based on stated values. If TMI can help clients shift diversity from a liability to an asset locally, the regional and global impact will expand exponentially. She is the proud mother of two cats (who she wishes were dragons) a quirky college sophomore, a charismatic high-school senior, and an opinionated fourth grader.


Richard Perry, Founding Partner of Veritus Group, Richard Perry has over 30 years of experience helping nonprofits transform their Major Donor programs. Perry co-founded The Domain Group, which was one of the largest full-service fundraising consulting agencies serving major national, regional and local non-profits in the United States. Perry also does management consulting and leadership development and transition, and has worked with mergers and acquisitions.

FLEX CREDITS

Flex credits may be used towards the Fundraising for Impact Summit if you complete this request form

Flex credits are available to use for the Fundraising for Impact Summit for the following items:

  • Registration fees (volunteers qualify if a United Way staff person is attending the same learning opportunity or conference)
  • Some travel costs such as airfare, rental car, or mileage (only one form of travel reimbursement, rental car, mileage, or airfare is allowed with a maximum of $500 per trip)
  • Daily per diem – a combination of the hotel room rate, plus taxes and any meal not included during a learning opportunity

Please click here to access your United Way flexible credit balance. If you choose to use Flex Credits to pay for this event, when you get to the payment screen while registering, choose “Flex Credits” from the drop-down payment box. You will need to enter your organization number in the box provided if you choose the flex credit payment option.

All travel reimbursement from flex credits is submitted and processed after the event is over. Each registrant will receive an online travel reimbursement form within 5 business days of the program completion. Once this form is sent, it must be completed within 10 business days, after which further reimbursements cannot be processed. You do not need to keep your receipts to fill out this form, though we do encourage you to keep them for your records.
