Take a look at what's on tap for our learning sessions at CLC!
ARE YOU IN? Make your plans now to join us May 10-12, 2017, when the best and brightest, the movers and the shakers, the innovators and the advocates, of the United Way network gather in Orlando, Florida, for the 2017 United Way Community Leaders Conference (CLC). This annual gathering is the prime opportunity to collaborate with your United Way colleagues from around the globe, sharing key learnings, discovering best practices, celebrating successes and forging new collaborative relationships. And a special addition for 2017: the International 2-1-1 Leadership Summit will be held immediately before CLC on May 9.
This year, we encourage volunteer leaders (Board members, Campaign Chairs, Alexis de Tocqueville Cabinet members and more) to join our staff leadership at CLC. We are working in partnership with our network to develop learning sessions designed specifically to engage volunteer leaders through lunch on Thursday, May 11.
United Way has been changing lives and building strong communities for more than 125 years and, to continue this mission for many more years, we need to collaborate on innovative ways to offer outstanding individual experiences, to reinvigorate relationships with our corporate partners, to expand our network of transformational giving, and to work together as one network with unparalleled reach around the globe.
We look forward to seeing you in Orlando!

|Demario Davis, an NFL linebacker, is currently playing for the Cleveland Browns. As a Mississippi native, Davis connected with the United Way of the Capital Area, Inc. (Jackson, MS), exploring ways he can expand his community outreach with the greatest impact, while living and working in other regions. During spring of 2017, Davis served as an Extern with United Way Worldwide, as part of the NFLPA (National Football League Players Association) collaboration with United Way. Touted as a natural leader by many previous coaches, Davis once shared "“Since I was a young child, I always told my Mom, ‘I’m a leader. I want to be a leader in everything I do.’" A married father of 3 young children, Davis set aside piano lessons as a child in favor of football; today, he's been learning to play and has several songs already in his repertoire. "When it comes to family, I think raising your children up, that's where your most important leadership is. That's where your most important impact in society is," he said. We are excited to have Demario Davis on the United Way team as we're building our NFL strategy.|
|Brian Gallagher, became President and Chief Executive Officer of United Way of America in 2002 and then of United Way Worldwide in 2009. In 2002, he immediately took on the challenge of leading the transformation of the organization to focus on community impact. A career veteran of the United Way system, Gallagher believes that the true measure of success for United Way and other philanthropic organizations is bottom-line results: the lives that are changed and the communities that are shaped. This represents a dynamic shift from the United Way recognized for decades as the nation’s premier fund raiser and distributor. Gallagher has raised the bar on the accountability, governance and transparency standards adopted as a requirement of membership for all United Ways. Today, United Way has 1,800 local affiliates in 41 countries and territories raising $5.2 billion annually, with 9.6 million donors and 2.2 million volunteers. Follow Brian on Twitter.|
